Samsung Galaxy S10+ review: Another predictably great flagship

One UI After years of being criticized for its heavy-handed software, Samsung’s finally revamped its interface, which makes the S10+ feel fresher than its older siblings. I like the new font and the subtle layout tweaks that make everything easier to use with one hand. Take the brightness slider for example — One UI places …

Mac Mini 2019: what we want to see

Just when we thought Apple forgot about the Mac mini, Apple swept us off our feet with a stunning update in late 2018, alongside the new MacBook Air – another neglected Mac. It was so stunning that we’re already getting our hopes up for a Mac mini 2019.

The latest Mac mini offers fantastic performance – even at its base configuration with an Intel Core i3 processor – and is able to keep up with the intense demands of users. The computer also has an abundance of ports for connectivity and a decent thermal architecture to keep the heat down.

Of course, the new Mac mini is hardly the perfect machine. The computer’s integrated graphics leave something to be desired, its SSD storage is the bare minimum and it isn’t really all that cheap – even if it is technically the “cheapest” Mac available. Just in case Apple does release an update this year, we’ve whipped up a wish list. Check back for more updates [...]  read more

1. Facebook won’t let you opt out of its phone number ‘look up’ setting

Users are complaining that the phone number Facebook hassled them to use to secure their account with two-factor authentication has also been associated with their user profile — which anyone can use to “look up” their profile.

Security expert and academic Zeynep Tufekci said in a tweet: “Using security to further weaken privacy is a lousy move — especially since phone numbers can be hijacked to weaken security.”

2. Huawei reportedly plans to sue U.S. government over ban

The Final Season of ‘Game of Thrones’ Might Be Funny

Happy Monday, and welcome to another edition of The Monitor, WIRED’s look at all that’s happening in the world of pop culture. Hollywood is in a bit of a post-Oscars lull, but that doesn’t mean all’s quiet—hey, Steven Spielberg and Netflix have already gone a few rounds since last week. What else? Well, Edge of Tomorrow is getting a sequel, and Game of Thrones shot an epic battle for its final season. Get ready; winter is coming.

GoT‘s Final Season Will Have LoLs

In a relatively plot-free new piece for Entertainment Weekly, the cast and creators of Game of Thrones discuss filming the show’s final six episodes—including the (presumably) epic battle of Winterfell, which pits much of Westeros against the Night King. Amidst all the not-revealing reveals, though, is this bit from director David Nutter: “The fans will not be let down. [...]  read more
